Diabetes mellitus often remains undetected in its early stages because its symptoms are nonspecific; therefore, community-based screening is needed to identify individuals at risk. This community service activity aimed to support early detection of diabetes mellitus through random blood glucose testing among residents of Kabul Village, Praya Barat Daya District, Central Lombok. The activity involved 25 participants aged 18 years or older and comprised preparation, glucometer-based testing, delivery of individual results, and brief health education. Data were analyzed descriptively according to random blood glucose categories. The results showed that 22 participants (88%) had normal glucose levels, one participant (4%) was classified as prediabetic, and two participants (8%) were suspected of having diabetes mellitus. These findings indicate that random blood glucose testing can serve as a practical initial screening method for identifying at-risk individuals. Participants with above-normal results should undergo confirmatory examination at a healthcare facility.

Bullying in early childhood may hinder children’s social, emotional, and psychological development; therefore, prevention strategies should be aligned with their learning characteristics. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ ability to use Indonesian–German bilingual picture-story media and strengthen prosocial behavior among children at Al Ikhlas Taqwa Islamic Kindergarten, Medan. The program employed a Participatory Action Approach consisting of program socialization, teacher training, four weeks of classroom mentoring, and evaluation. Observations showed that teasing decreased by 50%, peer exclusion by 58%, and unwillingness to share by 53%. Teachers’ knowledge scores increased from 58 to 87, while children were able to use at least three German social expressions. Bilingual picture-story media effectively supported bullying prevention, promoted polite communication, and introduced a foreign language in an engaging manner. The program can be sustained through regular storytelling activities and the continued development of similar educational media.

Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is a horticultural crop with high economic value and is widely favored by consumers. As the demand for high-quality melon production continues to increase, hydroponic cultivation has emerged as an alternative technology to improve the efficiency of land, water, and nutrient utilization. This Field Work Practice (PKL) aimed to examine melon cultivation techniques using the Dutch Bucket hydroponic system with hydroton as the growing medium and to understand the cultivation and maintenance practices from transplanting to harvesting. The PKL activities were carried out through direct observation, hands-on practice, interviews, and literature review. The cultivation stages included the preparation of the Dutch Bucket system, seedling production, transplanting, nutrient management, plant maintenance, pest and disease control, and harvesting. Hydroton was selected as the growing medium because of its excellent water-holding capacity and aeration properties, which promote healthy root growth and development. The results demonstrated that the Dutch Bucket hydroponic system using hydroton effectively supported optimal melon growth by providing a controlled supply of water and nutrients. In addition, the system simplified crop management while enhancing the productivity and quality of melon fruits. Therefore, melon cultivation using the Dutch Bucket hydroponic system with hydroton as the growing medium represents an effective and efficient cultivation technology with strong potential for wider adoption in commercial melon production

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains a serious public health problem among adolescents, particularly due to motorcycle-related traffic accidents. Limited knowledge regarding early recognition, first aid, and prevention of TBI may increase the risk of inappropriate responses after injury. This community engagement activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge about traumatic brain injury prevention and first aid through a structured health education program at SMA Negeri 5 Mataram. The activity was conducted using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 100 students from grades X–XII. The intervention consisted of educational sessions covering brain anatomy, mechanisms of injury, warning signs, first aid management, and the importance of standard helmet use, supported by audiovisual media and interactive discussions. Knowledge was evaluated using a 15-item multiple-choice questionnaire administered before and after the intervention. The results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score from 70.2 ± 10.2 to 75.4 ± 8.6 among paired respondents (n=65), with a statistically significant improvement (Wilcoxon signed-rank test, p<0.001). The proportion of students with good knowledge increased from 56.8% to 82.4%. This activity demonstrated that school-based health education effectively improved students’ awareness and understanding of TBI prevention and management. Continuous and interactive educational programs are recommended to strengthen long-term safety behaviors among adolescents

This community service initiative aims to enhance the capacity of the "Bunga Mekar" farmer group in cocoa processing, specifically focusing on product innovation and the calculation of the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) using a simplified method. Senara Hamlet in Genggelang Village (Gangga District, North Lombok Regency) an area known for its cocoa plantations is expected to develop a wider variety of value-added cocoa products, such as food items, beverages, and cocoa powder, thereby increasing competitiveness through the efforts of the farmer group and the Women Farmers Group (KWT). Furthermore, training on COGS aims to provide a better understanding of how to determine appropriate selling prices based on production costs. Mentoring is also provided on simple accounting-based production cost recording to streamline the group's financial and business management. These training and mentoring activities are directed at the "Bunga Mekar" cocoa business group in Senara Hamlet, Genggelang Village, Gangga District, North Lombok Regency. Through an approach combining practical training and mentoring, the group is expected to manage its business more professionally, efficiently, and sustainably, while increasing income through higher-value cocoa products. The success of this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the development of the cocoa processing business in the region.

Penyuluhan Pentingnya Penggunaan Helm Standar Guna Menurunkan Angka Kejadian Cedera Otak Di SMAN 1 Pringgabaya

Traumatic brain injury remains a major consequence of road traffic accidents, particularly among adolescents who frequently use motorcycles for daily transportation. The use of standard motorcycle helmets compliant with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements is an important preventive measure to reduce the risk and severity of head injuries. This community service activity aimed to assess students’ baseline knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding helmet use and to improve awareness of standard helmet use as a preventive strategy against traumatic brain injury. The activity was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Pringgabaya, East Lombok, involving approximately 200 students. The intervention consisted of a baseline questionnaire, educational lectures on head trauma and brain injury prevention, audiovisual media presentation, leaflet distribution, and interactive discussions. A total of 113 students completed the baseline questionnaire. The findings revealed a gap between attitudes and practices: although 81.4% recognized helmets as protection against head impact and 77.0% perceived risks when riding without helmets, only 28.3% consistently used helmets, while 59.3% reported not wearing helmets when riding. Following the educational session, students demonstrated improved understanding of helmets as personal protective equipment rather than merely a traffic regulation requirement. School-based health education integrating assessment, audiovisual media, and discussion is feasible for promoting adolescent road safety behavior

Pelatihan E-Commerce untuk Penguatan Kompetensi Digital Perempuan Peserta Sekoper Cinta di Jawa Barat

This community engagement program aimed to strengthen basic e-commerce competencies among women participating in Sekolah Perempuan Capai Impian dan Cita-Cita (Sekoper Cinta), West Java. Fifteen participants attended activities held at Universitas Wanita Internasional, Bandung, during 29–31 August 2023. The program included preparation, initial assessment, hands-on training, and final assessment. Topics covered email creation, Instagram promotion, content planning, product photography, marketplace use, branding, and basic financial management. Descriptive outcomes were derived from final questionnaire responses and documentation of practical assignments. All responses (100%) indicated an ability to create an email independently; 93% indicated an ability to produce appealing product photographs using smartphones; and 100% indicated understanding of daily financial management and branding. All responses also expressed an intention to use online marketplaces for selling. These results reflect self-reported competencies and adoption intentions immediately after training. They do not establish improvement or business effects because comparable baseline data and follow-up business performance measures were not presented. Continued mentoring and assessment of actual skill application are recommended.

Community-based sustainability programs can become more locally relevant when environmental action is integrated with cultural learning and community participation. This article describes a community-service program combining tree planting and the preservation of Balinese arts in Mukih Awang Madya Village, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and discusses its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Hindu philosophy of Tri Hita Karana. The program adopted a Participatory Action Research-oriented approach through needs identification and coordination, SDG and environmental outreach, collaborative tree planting, Balinese dance and gamelan activities, youth engagement, and documentation-based evaluation. The reported activities involved residents, youth and arts groups, students, customary and religious leaders, and village authorities. Available descriptions and photographs document collective environmental action and opportunities for intergenerational cultural learning. Tree planting is relevant to SDGs 13 and 15, cultural transmission to SDGs 4 and 11, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to SDG 17. These contributions are interpreted as qualitative, process-level outcomes rather than measured long-term impacts. The available report does not specify participant numbers, tree species and counts, baseline and endline measures, or tree-survival rates. Continued maintenance, scheduled monitoring, regular arts mentoring, and measurable indicators are therefore recommended to strengthen sustainability and future evaluation

Innovative science education requires learning resources that integrate hands-on activities with contextual problem-solving. However, teachers' capacity to develop and utilize project-based science kits needs further strengthening. This community service program aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of science teachers affiliated with the Mataram City Science Teachers' Association (MGMP IPA) in utilizing science kits integrated with Project Based Learning (PjBL) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The program was conducted at SMP Negeri 6 Mataram through instructional sessions, an introduction to the ADDIE development model, science kit demonstrations, hands-on exploration, and discussions of classroom applications. Evaluation was conducted descriptively based on participants' engagement and feedback. The results indicated active teacher participation in demonstrations and discussions, providing practical experience in identifying the functions, applications, and potential integration of science kits into PjBL-STEM-based learning. This program established an initial foundation for strengthening teachers' competencies in developing innovative, contextual, and problem-solving-oriented science learning.
